Hey guys,
Another book review from yours truly! :)
This is about warm bodies... I have to say i was intrigued by this book. I had read and watches reviews about it and found out it was going to be a film so i watched the trailer for the film and re read the description of the book and thought 'screw it, looks interesting and i have christmas money so ill get it' I'm actually glad i did. It was a good book.
Description, thank you amazon:
From the Back Cover
'R' is a zombie. He has no name, no memories and no pulse, but he has dreams. He is a little different from his fellow Dead.
Amongst the ruins of an abandoned city, R meets a girl. Her name is Julie and she is the opposite of everything he knows - warm and bright and very much alive, she is a blast of colour in a dreary grey landscape. For reasons he can't understand, R chooses to save Julie instead of eating her, and a tense yet strangely tender relationship begins.
This has never happened before. It breaks the rules and defies logic, but R is no longer content with life in the grave. He wants to breathe again, he wants to live, and Julie wants to help him. But their grim, rotting world won't be changed without a fight.
That is basically the long and short of if. Like you have read 'R' is a zombie. And he just spends his day in the airport just wondering around and kinda taking to his friend 'M' i say kinda because they are zombies and obviously they cant really talk. R meets this dead girl that actually becomes his wife and he finds him self having two kids forced on him but he does find himself caring about them so he keeps them around.
On one of the hunts (zombie food hunt) he comes across this group of people that of corse all the zombies rip to shreds and R eats the brain of a boy called Perry Kelvin and he finds him self having major flashbacks of his life and he feels really connected to him and actually saves his brain (yuk) for later so he can still relive his life thats when he meets Julie. She wants to kill him but actually hesitates. He ends up saving her and taking her to where he lives which is in a plane.
R is spending time with Julie he develops feelings for her. But i personally think its because of Perry's brain that he does, i meen he starts out having feelings because of Perry, but thats just me, he does keep having flashes of Perry's memories but thats what confused me as i didn't really know what life he was on about and then when i figured it out i had to start the section again.
R and Julie spend time with each other and slowly R is actually turning more human than zombie and Julie starts to like him and actually start to care about him.
She does realise that she needs to go home because her dad will be looking for her and if he finds her with R he will kill him but R wants to take her home regardless because all he wants to do is keep her safe!
The end is a bit un-satisfying but it does open the way for another book and i really hope there is another one as i would love to know what happens with R and Julie next :)
I don't really want to say anymore because i don't want to tell you the whole story coz i can feel that i can talk for ever about this book so ill shut up about it now. Hehe. And as i say over and over again I'm not about spoiler!
It is worth a read tho, i promise! Buy it!!
I have given this a 4 out of 5 star rating as some parts of the book did confuse me, the parts where Perry's memories keep popping up, he could have made that a bit more clear but i got there in the end! Lol! But do buy it, it had got a bit of gore in it as well, not a lot, but its not all lovey dovey (i hate those kinda books) as what I'm making it out to be
Sending love to book world
